Y8 mani question
« on: April 28, 2010, 12:03:01 pm »
Hey guys, is there a differenc e between an auto an maunual when it comes to the manifold an also what all is required to install it on my a6. I heard somewhere that I will have to drill out a hole for the air temp sensor, is this true? Is there anything else. Thanks for any info.
Mike

I believe they are totally different .

I think I have the manual one i can take a picture of.

And yes the auto one was missing a connectio n that the manual one had.

Yeah get a manual y8 manifold. I forgot what the differenc e was, but I do know there's one. I'll post it up after I find the differenc e.

*edit*

" The only differenc e between the two is that the IACV for the manual is mounted on the back, the IACV is on the throttle body for an automatic . If you get a manual one, no big deal, you just plug the holes."

"You need the manual version with the 2-wire EACV on the back instead of on the TB like the auto y8 with the 3-wire EACV. "

"The main differenc e in the auto y8 and the manual y8 intake manifolds is the EACV. Before 96 (OBD2) Honda used 2wire EACV's. 96-00 OBD2 the y7 and the auto y8 used 3-wire. Leaving only the y8 manual style IM a 2wire EACV. Not to mention they made another change on the 99-00 with the air injection system"
