Skunk2 tracks down fakes at sema
« on: November 11, 2010, 07:50:01 pm »
Skunk2 Street Team member "Agent Hobbs" went undercove r at last week's 2010 SEMA conventio n. His mission, to reveal knock-off parts distribut ors that are selling "Skunk2 like" products. Agent Hobbs didn't let us down, spotting and capturing video of one bootleg parts manufactu rer in particula r. We were pleased with his work, however, also a bit saddened with the fact that SEMA supports such knock-off companies . Is this what it's come to? Once thought to be a place of innovatio n and originali ty, SEMA has since let the copycats in, allowing them to peddle their knock-off products under the same roof as the originals . Is this the direction our scene is headed? Only you can prevent that from happening . Check out the video

Wow, really TK?? Its called eBay. Its a multi-billion dollar company. Just type in "Civic Control Arm" or "Civic Camber Kit" and see how many different ones there are. Dozens. Now go to Alibaba.c om and do the same search. You can even get them with "TK" engraved on them if you want. Hell, I can give you the number to a guy who will make a batch and we can call the the ECEFC Camber Kit. Our logo and everythin g. Hell, even our own packaging .
If it doesnt say Skunk2 then its not stealing. Its a simple control arm, nothing special.
Plus, SEMA is a ENORMOUS show with hundreds of companies . With the way the economy is, I dont think they care they have "copycats" paying for a vendor booth.

Trust me as an engineer.

All you have to do with Copy righted stuff is change one little aspect and the law suite or what ever they will try is null and void.

We had a company in china buy two of our machines, I told the president of the company you better lock the code where they cant get at it.

Machines delivered into a warehouse with nothing in there except our two machines.  Bunch of engineeri ng offices.

His first words were oh shit.

Mine were you gonna listen now.

Happens on a daily basis just skunk is now getting their pee-pee hurt.

the sad thing is, the asian vendors in that video are probably the ones that make skunk2s parts anyway. we all know their parts are made in china.

and also skunk2 cant really complain about fakes when most of their b series products are based off of the type r design. look at their gen1 intake manifold vs the type r manifold. its the exact same!!
