gsr or b20v?
« on: December 06, 2010, 02:08:31 pm »
ok so im kinda leaning towards gsr but i love the torque my friends b20v has its a str8 up beast lol ok so anyway i kno the rod length of b20's arent all that great for high rpm and i wanna go to 9k or 9.5k maye even 10k if i ever need too, aand my goal is about 275-300whp on 93octane :P i kno about the oil squirters s in the gsr block r def. a plus in high rpm and the shorter rod length helps to but in all motor there is no replaceme nt for displacem ent point blank but can u bore the gsr to 85mm? or how much? and could u stroke it a little? h or i beam? and so forth

oh yea 4-2-1 or 4-1? and what intake manifold? injectors and all

Personall y I would want a B20 vtec. I dont think there is much need to rev past 8500 and a b20 can handle that much. 275 NA is going to be REALLY expensive .  I am pretty sure you can bore the GSR to 85 MM but I think reliabili ty would suffer some.

Yeah, but consideri ng most cars (not hondas) only rev to 6500-7500, 8500 is a lot. (correct me if I'm wrong but) With the more tq from the b20, its easier to stay in the power band without having to rev really high.

goodluck those #'s will not be easy. better yet there going to be almost impossibl e  with out mass ammounts of cash or N2O.
and u can forget about making that kind of power NA on 93 octane

I dont mean to call bullshit. ... but i'm gonna have to call bullshit on this, lol.

This is quoted from Kidd on IA...

"Tbone on Honda-tech TRIED to build a 300whp NA B Series engine with about $20,000 he made 276whp. That was dry sumped, $1500 rods, $1000 custom pistons, Custom Cams, $2000 head work, $2500 ITBs, tons more trick stuff."

he also said there's only been 3 or B series engines that have ever made 300whp and they were full out race teams.

i'd love to see a dyno sheet or a build thread of said motor.

QFT

also those 3 motors were also on race gas... i have done mass amounts of research cuz i too am in the process of building a high compressi on NA motor but i live in reality and i find it VERY hard to beleive that his motor made that much power on pumpgas. if u told me it made that on C16  and had a list of supportin g mods and dyno sheet to go with it i might have believed it. but on pump gas i call BS

thats a littlle more like it..but even with meth injection his compressi on has to be thru the roof block would have to be sleeved, insane amount of lift with a custom set of cams..and a nasty as bore and overstrok e ....headw ork, ex. mani and in. mani all have to be top dollar as well....w aiting for supportin g mod list with dyno sheet or better yet some pics
