The Madman Hauler
« on: March 21, 2011, 12:01:21 pm »
So this has been my little secret for a while.  CBE and Wiggles knew about it but nobody else.

Kind of doing two builds at once.  Been using the Land Rover as a parts hauler since I've been trying to make some extra money.  No pay raise it the past 4 years.  So time for daddy to make ends meet.

Here is my other build

RHD
http://eastcoastefcivics.com/index.php?topic=2310.0

Here is my parts hauler:

Driver side

Passenger side

Hood / Fender area

Rear

Harness

As of right now it needs some TLC.

It needs a good cleaning.
Motor
clutch and pressure plate
hood and passenger fender
and various other small things.

But came with brand new 13" steel wheels with new tires on them plus a skunk coil over kit on it.

I really need to clean up the engine bay before I get to do any work otherwise I'll never get all the grease off me.

My neighbor said oh it is kind of cool looking.  She said almost a mini me of your Discovery .

But she said I really like it and for the price you paid I'd drive the crap out of it.

I've got some plans for it but first thing is first get it running.  Got too many projects need a running car.

I'm at the following:

Degreasin g of the bay
Motor
clutch and pressure plate
radiator and fans
air compresso r
hood and passenger fender
rear seat buttons
possible window driver window regulator . Seems hard and wobbly.

But got it for a good price and he threw in a jdm cluster. Not sure I will use that or not due to doing the RHD conversio n on the hatch.

So after that I picked up and cleaned up.

Moved the EF9 back into the garage.

Moved the wagon to where the EF9 was.

Took the crappy matrix seat covers off to reveal.

Figuring out what I am missing.

Also got given this when I bought the wagon.  Not sure if I will keep it as a spare for the Ef9 or sell it.

Started throwing stuff in the wagon part of the trunk from my HF build that was trashed.

These are the wheels that are going on the wagon.

Probably got to raise it a little due to how bloodly low it is even with out the engine in it.

As of Saturday 3/12/2011

Motor appears on the door step.
clutch, flywheel, pressure plate
intake, throttle body, injectors, fuel rail
Air Compresso r.

Saturday was a good day.

Need to clean up motor and re-gasket it.

Went to pull a part on 3/14/2011

- Got me the thermosta t tubing that goes on the back of the block.
- breather box that goes on the back of the block.
- got a EF driver mount since the block I have is from an EG with EG mount
- got alternato r brackets upper and lower

Missing the idle air valve for the y8 intake
missing an altenator
missing dipstick

I'll probably start cleaning the motor and parts tonight.

Well as of 3/16/2011 I think we broke the UPS mans back.

70+ lb box delivered to the house.

came with all kind of goodies for my upgrade to power windows etc at some point. I'll be making custom harness's etc.

But first is to get the car running and rock the manual windows for a while.

gonna try this weekend to clean up the motor and figure out what gaskets I need before I go dropping it in.

got too many projects and not enough time.

My rhd hatch looks like it threw up a sedan power window and door lock conversio n kit.

I've got parts laying on a towel all over the roof.

I've also got pretty much the complete set up for cruise as well.

Probably tonight I'll be starting to get the motor clean and figure out all the gaskets I need.

Well had a great day outside.

Only issue was it was work on the wagon and also yard work.

I think heat stroke came into play due to how much I was trying to get done.

But thank god for my little helpers.

They told me they wanted to wash Dad's new car.

So I gave them a bucket of water and soap.  I think my daughter was sparkling clean due to my son hosing her down multiple times.

I learned a trick, I got some non scratch comet dish powder.  Made the car and engine bay nice and white again.

Can only do the above trick on single stage paint with no clear.

Got to also clean up the motor.  It was oil soaked due to a leaky dizzy oring.

Spent about $100 on gaskets the other night so I've got all these lovely boxes sitting.

Missing injector orings and two gaskets to build complete motor but they will be here soon.

I'm probably gonna build it as much as I can then put it in the car so it is not taking up space in the garage.

I think I have a spare alternato r if you still need one. I'm not 100% sure it works but let me know and its yours. I'll probably take it my autozone soon and have it tested.

I thank you for that trick.  It was like a yellow color before.  Engine bay was black.  Now have a nice bright white.

I think I have a spare alternato r if you still need one. I'm not 100% sure it works but let me know and its yours. I'll probably take it my autozone soon and have it tested.

I think CBE said he had one.  I'll let ya know.

Pretty much trying to get it running soon.

Just got a text from the wife saying load of mulch was delivered at the house so even if I got the car running it aint going no where.

Guess where the mulch is :)

Tried keeping it quiet for a little.

Seems more and more the ep3 is becoming Les's acting car.

I'm not complaini ng, she likes it and I like it.  Plus it is a whole lot cheaper to throw gas at the EP3 than the LR.
