turbo ?s
« on: June 11, 2011, 11:43:17 pm »
ok ive been driving my boosted ef for few weeks now and noticed a few things and was just wondering if anybody could shed some light on . ok after diving awhile it will push lil bit of water out the top of the radiator cap . i know in this heat wave we got going  on and it being turboed its going to run hotter than normal ,heat hand stays on normal temp . but have never had this happen on other turboed honda(witch i didnt drive in heat like this) , just wondering if i need to change some things or with this heat wave we having is this normal , i was thinking it may need to be burped or maybe a diff thermosta t , maybe a bigger radiator ,also thought maybe be the start of a headgaske t prob . but was hoping i am just over thinking it . can anyone shed a lil light on this at all

yes the fan is directly wired to switch .
uses bout a cup of water every 5 or 6 days
when i park after driving it u can see a small spot of coolant
it has a overflow tank
no smoke
no milky sh*t in the oil
running alum. half style rad.
not sure on the thermasta t
will idal up win get low on coolant and its warm .
sometimes it will idel up and down
you can tell when you get on it pushes more water out the top of rad.
if u get on it and let it actually boost good then park it ,pop the hood u can see where lil fluid cam and got on the trans and stuff

thanks guys

Maybe your rad cap sucks? Try a different one and see what happens?

secure your rad cap..if water is leaking it is not sealing.. .i would also use 50/50

it seems to be sealing , well its building presure anyways drove it yesturday for bout 30 mins constant run round 60 to 70 mph , got on it few time , got home let it sit a few mins . slightly turned cap u could here presure release , so i just said forget it and kept turning lil bit more and the pressure actually popped the cap off spewed out maybe cup and half . after i let it sit till ever thing was cool to touch put more fluid in till full , let cap off cranked up sprewed lil more fluid out then it was fine as far as sit still running looked to be flowing good and all , it builds up presure its got a 13lb cap on it if that helps , lol .

check for pin hole cracks in rad.

Also my wagon had where the top hose was not sealing correctly, too much angle so it was seeping out of the rad hose.  Once I moved the clamp to fix it that solved that but then found the issue of a pin hole in the rad.

Sounds like the rad cap is not the issue.

Can always rent a coolant pressure tester.

Also check thermosta t as well to see if you have one.  If you dont have one sometime people take them out due to underlyin g heating issues such as water pump done or head gasket.
