From what I found you need 5 bulbs (size 74) or atleast for 88-89s

http://autolumination.com

http://www.superbrightleds.com

This is ironic because I was consideri ng tackling this project this weekend.

Edit
The bulbs depends on what year cluster you have. 88 Crx take 3 #194s and 2 #74s while 89 CRXs take 5 #74s. This is based on what I can tell in pictures I saw. You make want to take your cluster cover off and check.

Also, do not use Bulbs with a single LEDs. Try to find a slim bulb with 3-5 LEDs on it.

Since I have an 88 and an 89 I'm going to count the bulbs of each. All 90-91 should be the same.

Once we have figured this out.

We will put up a how to and how many bulbs.

Wiggles start the thread if you buy them first of how many bulbs you bought, what type and what cluster.

With pictures.

LED Cluster lights - count and year
« Reply #10 on: September 17, 2011, 09:05:03 am »
Ok we have a thread going so I figured I'd start this one.

http://eastcoastefcivics.com/index.php?topic=3087.0
http://autolumination.com/74.htm

Small bulbs are 194's
big bulbs are 74's

I'm going to add the clusters and how many bulbs of each I know due to verificat ion cause I have them either in cars or laying around.

Copy the year, bulbs and change it for your year. (this will include the cluster cover)

1990 CDN( in km/h)  cluster
small - 12
big - 4

1990 jdm (in km/h) cluster
small - 12
big - 4

1990 usdm (in mph) cluster
small - 13
big - 4

I don't think you should include the idiot lights bulbs and signals because most people don't change those.

I know 90-91 CRX clusters needs 5 74bulbs to illuminat ed the numbers.
88-89 NS clusters needs 3 194bulbs and 3 74bulbs. Both my 88 CRX Si and my 89 Civic Si have this cluster. Unfortuna tely, I can't guarantee that this goes for all 88 CRX Si and 89 Civic Si.

I ordered some bulbs yesterday . I also took the cluster covers off of both my CRX and Civic and they use the same cluster. Both were 88-89 NS cluster (there's two different clusters a NS and a ND for 88-89s). I'll update the other thread.

Here's my 88 CRX Si cluster (My 89 Civic Si is identical)

This is how you determine what 88-89 cluster you have. The idiot lights are arranged different ly between the ND and NS cluster. If your idiots lights are arrange like this then more than likely you have a ND cluster since this one is a NS. Believe the most noticeble differenc e is the placement of the seat belt indicator .

Part# and you can see "NS"

This cluster used 3-194bulbs and 3-74bulbs as back lights for the number.
