If you go to honda.  You have to provide proof of ownership (insurance) and also have car with you, they do not just hand you a key cut to "x" vin.  Little shady.

home depot has different keys but they usually just match the key.

you can go to a junk yard and find one with a key in it and get all the locks out and go from there.

Don't think you understoo d the question. I'm trying to see if I buy new locks from Honda,But ones for a 01 civic instead of a 88-91.People say reason why people can open your door is because worn out locks.Wit h Laser cut keys I would think it would be alot harder for a theft to break in using a shaved key or whatever. Im not looking to get a key made or anything like that so how is this shady? If im asking if the cylinder locks are interchan geable???Im lost...

Check ebay,They arent as expensive .They sell you new Key cylinders and keys.Arou nd 90$ with two keys and two locks with ignition. I was thinking about something that would secure doors on exit.My friend had it for his trunk said they use it on race cars to key hoods from popping.B ut it is steele cable and deadbolt. I figure if they are going to steal it,I want them to work for mines.

Honda will think shady, not you shady but you did jump on that one quick.

My 05 has a laser cut key but no programmi ng.

All you need to do is go one ebay or find one being parted out, get the locks etc.

You just need to make sure diameters are the same that is all.
