El Penguino Supremo
« on: July 06, 2013, 03:45:33 am »
I've had my 89 ee2 for a while, but have for some reason neglected to make a build thread yet, so here we go.

the day i brought her home(smoking like a beast) from tennesee. bone stock

My first and really only big build came in the form of a crx parts car that i got from a friend. i got off of this car a d15b7 with an hf tranny, new axles, new suspensio n( stock struts with beefier lowering springs), a nuespeed sway bar, and the complete outer suspensio n.

out with the old:

and in with the new:

Since then, i have found a few extra parts and done a bit of tucking thanks to chris. ill get pics of my engine bay in later, but for the most part ive just been dailying ftw. This is as she sits now. Plasti-dipped miata wheels and all:

Is it running better now?

I know you have been fighting the gremlins and stuff.

Looks like a good platform.

Plus it is white and I have a thing for white wagons. :)

no. it is not running any better rich. i have done everythin g i can to trace a vacuum leak. i even tried another map, but when i did, it trigger my check engine light on top of throwing 3 and 5.

On another note, i did find and fix a bad coolant leak the other day. i lost two radiators full of water and had to change my thermosta t once within a week before i found this guy.

Have you tried starting fluid near each vacuum line.

Basically spray line.  Listen to engine tone.

Move on to next line.

It will make the engine idle higher when it penetrate s the line.

this time i did listen. i sprayed just about every inch of vacuum line on my IM, but i never heard a single variance. i may try changing out my throttle body gasket on monday to see if it makes a differenc e. some of the nuts seemed loose when i was fiddling around with it, so i tightened them a bit, but it made no differenc e.
if robert would just go ahead and do his multipoin t swap i would have a great IM to work with and would have to worry about this stuff. just saying...
