B18A1 swap : CEL 7 , 8 , 41
« on: May 24, 2016, 12:05:38 pm »
So yeah I'm getting some random bucking while driving partial throttle. ..

Pulled codes and yup there they are:

7 - tps?  I guess I need a new one bc this one is tight and visually looks fine.
Volts out correctly when I check it.

8 - tdc sensor?  I guess it's the crank angle sensor?

41 - o2 sensor?  Easy enough fix I guess.

Coil in the Distribut or could be breaking down.

Had the same issue in my Hatch a few years back

Bought a Coil and cleaned the contacts and rotor

What is the part number on your distribut or?

Mine died and I searched for the distribut or coil.

Nope.

I replaced the coil with a new one off eBay.

Same issue.

Other things I've replaced recently:

Dist cap - oem
Rotor button - oem
Plug wires - ngk
Plugs - ngk
Fuel filter - oem

I also ran a couple bottles of techron fuel injector cleaner through the system.

I bought a new innovate wideband that I'm going to install as my primary o2 sensor.

Not sure what else to check at this point - maybe a retune or fuel pump.

I have a spare set of RC 310cc injectors I could throw on there as well...

Apparentl y there's three different sensors in the distribut or.
TDC sensor is one of them.

I might try to put my coil in another distribut or I have (that is currently converted to use msd external coil) and see if that'll work.

Did you ohm it out like the site said to?

Also reset the system?

Tried another distribut or - same issue!

Wtf.

Maybe it's fuel pump?

Vacuum leak?

Wiring sucks?

Argh!

did you pressure test the fuel pump?

vacuum leak is easy.  Spray ether around vacuum line one at a time and listen for idle change.

Is your distribut or a obd1 to obdo conversio n harness?

If so I have the jumper if you wanna try.

We can ohm out the lines (distribut or to ecu) to see if getting good connectio n.
