2jzgte swap and 240sx coupe
« on: October 11, 2010, 01:26:32 pm »
Well it's been a while since I checked in, and I've been wondering where to put this thread so here it is:

Long story short, I got my 91 si in 2000.
I got it to daily and not put miles on my itr.
I later swapped it and as it became more track oriented, I bought a 1990 240sx coupe to be the beater.

I drove the 240 for a while with stock teardrops, and soon got some mismatche d meshies.
When I couldn't take it anymore, I got some eibach sportline s to lower it.

There's a pic of our family of cars... Pos 240 on the far right.

Well, as time went by, I decided that I wanted something more out of my daily.  And the twincam ka finally gave up the ghost.  I was thinking about getting an evo mr, but I kept coming back to swaps I had in mind for the 240.

Finally, I decided to do a 2jzgte swap from the jdm aristo.

So in October 09, I went and picked out the cleanest gte at pacific engines and the process began.

The swap only took a week and a half.
It cost me a total of about $6k + another $1k on other bs parts.

Once done, I still needed an exhaust.. .

Well I own the black itr and the black ef; and of course the white 240.

The eg was my friend Josh greens; k20 swapped but he sold it.

The white jdm front itr is wifeys - vortech blown.

And the other itr is my friend chris carder's - autox superstar, but it was stolen.  Rip.

I actually bought this before I even got the swap finished:

Garrett gt37 - should be good for 500whp.

Ya, I was trying to build the ultimate daily driver with this car, so I guess you could say I'm field testing it.

My ef is just so rugged and raw; it's a real shame to put daily miles on it:

The skidplate hits everythin g, the clutch type LSD is noisy as fuck, and that plus the wide track and caster literally fight to pull the steering wheel out of your hands...
Not to mention that the lumpy cams and itb's are just overkill in every way for a commuter.
Also, the final drive and close ratio gearset with 7lb flywheel really keep you on your toes.
The n1 coilovers aren't too bad surprisin gly (11k f / 16k r).

I guess I should make a thread about that car...

Yeah plus the way Old milton is probably fight it a good bit.

I drove my crx the other day and pretty much after driving my EP3 and my hatch for the past two weeks that it was time for a suspensio n upgrade.

That thing beat me to death.

make sure you do the fuel correctly .

My buddy's single turbo supra is pumping 545.  He could not get above 430 with factory fuel supply.

Seems to be a fun ride.  Have to ridden it since he did the single conversio n.

There is a guy in woodstock that is really good with supra motors.

Hmm

The 240 hardlines are good for 500whp, and I'm running a walbro pump.

I think I'm going to shoot for 400whp initially with a really simple build.  Then I'll go from there.

My goal was 300whp drop-in, then 400-500 with a small single.

I've got some ideas for a fuel surge tank and dual walbro feeding an aeromotiv e.  Well see tho.

* I usually post from my phone and it sucks to do it lol.

Update:

This past Saturday, Anthony hooked me up with modding some j30 rear lower control arms to go with the j30 rear 5lug uprights / knuckles.

(basically, the j30 has a different size and taper balljoint in the lca and that has to match the upright. If using other lca's - like I was stock s13, the balljoint wont sit right and you'll have really scary handling in the rear. )

Anthony grinded down the mounting points on the j30 rear lca's that I got at PaP that morning.

Then he mounted them for me and did the alignment .

I got 8deg of positive caster in the front along with -3deg of camber front and -2deg camber rear.
