timing question

ok so i figured when i did my head that i could get by with just adjusting the new head cam in the same position as the old head when i took it off. i did mark the timing belt when i took the old one off..anyw ays while i was trying to take the cam gear off when the new head was on the car it moved a little bit. now im wondering if that would have messed up my timing at all. the new head is on the car with a few head studs holding it on but i was wondering if it woulda made the timing jump off at all.can i just take the new head off and adjust it like i did the first time? my friend told me it would have made my pistons move and he said it messed up the timing... i know ur prolly not understan ding what im trying to type so if all else fails does someone have a walk through on timing?

i did search and couldnt find anything. thanks in advance
